WHAT IS MEMBERSHIP?
We are a Students' Union run by our members, for our members. Unlike the Students' Representative Council of which all UofG students are automatically a member, you need to opt-in to join us in order to get the most of out the services we offer.
WHY SHOULD YOU JOIN?
Signing up to be a member is free, quick, easy and gets you loads of benefits. You'll be missing out on a massive part of University life, and probably losing money too, if you don't sign-up!
SAVINGS & DISCOUNTS
Because we don’t want you to break the bank while in the Union, QMU Members get access to our low prices and great food in the Bistro, 10% discount off food and coffee in the Cafe, 10% off a selected range of drinks [which change monthly] in Bar, Games and Venue, and half price on putting items in our cloakroom.
EVENTS & GIGS
We pride ourselves on having the most creative and varied events on campus including: club-nights, drag, festivals, balls, fairs and of course LOTS of gigs. As a QMU Member: you get to be the first to know about our events via our newsletter, for some events you get a discount on entry, and once a month you get the chance to win two FREE tickets to our upcoming gigs via a raffle.
BRING YOUR FRIENDS
Want to bring your non-student friends to the Union? As a member you can sign-in up to 4 guests to the Union at any time! Just make sure they don’t get up to mischief.
A STRONG COMMUNITY
Not only does membership entitle you to a bunch of great perks, it also makes you a part of a thousands-strong community with a rich history that dates back to 1890. QMU members support each other and we support our members.
While we’re not super strict about it, you do need to be a member to attend our five committees: groups of members who meet weekly in the Board Room to help run the Union. As a member of our committees you get to directly influence what goes on in the Union: from the events we run, to the campaigns and charities we support.
VOTE & RUN IN ELECTIONS
Like the sound of affecting changes to the Union? Well, after our committees, elections are the next step to getting really involved with what we do here. We are a democratic organisation run by our members, for our members. You can use your membership to vote in our elections and it entitles you to run for an elected position.
