While an end to covid restrictions seems to be the horizon, we know that students have been and are still struggling as result of the pandemic and the increased restrictions on socialising. We at the QMU want to do more to help our student body through these difficult times, and as such are introducing a new service: QMUnity!

QMUnity is a socialisation service, aimed at widening students’ social networks and providing much needed social interaction. The service is made up of 2 parts: an instant messaging service and an offering of slots for covid-safe walks with our friendly volunteers!

The IM service will operate 7 days a week, 1pm-3pm on the QMUnity Facebook page. Simply message the QMUnity page and one of our volunteers will be online to have a chat with you! **

Our 30-minute slots available for walks will be posted to the QMUnity page every Friday and will be issued on a first-come first serve basis. Message the QMUnity page with your preferred slot and we will arrange all the meeting details with you privately! In- line with covid guidelines, these walks will be one-on-one and both volunteers and students must wear a mask at all times and maintain social distancing throughout.

We hope that QMUnity will be able to support students as much as possible in these difficult times and provide at least a small amount of needed social interaction!

**The service aims to supports students; however, our volunteers are not trained to deal with mental health crisis. If you are struggling with issues relating to your mental health, please look at the list of resources created/linked by our mental health campaign Elephant in the Room, https://linktr.ee/elephantintheroomresources **
