Time really does fly, unfortunately I've been isolating the last few weeks due to catching that global pandemic people keep talking about. This has meant that for the last few weeks I've been working from home rather than in office. Unfortunately, I haven't missed too much by not being at home, as mere days after I got tested it was announced that no alcohol serving premises would be allowed to open and so our building has been limited to functioning as a Cafe for the last few weeks. I've still been fairly busy though however, despite not much going on.
The appeal is now concluded. This has been a long and arduous process and certainly a steep learning curve but it is sorted and we can move forward with our relationship with Unite. I had some discussions with Robert Partridge and Margaret his week about how we improve our Union relationships and the best course of action. I have also been updated on Recognition and the process is going forward.
My other big project has been putting together the pieces to hold our AGM. The date has now been announced and so I hope to see as many of our members as possible there on the 30th of October. I am pleased that this box will finally be ticked off.
We had a Cross Campus meeting last week where we looked at setting up marquees to reach out to students at halls and we debriefed about Freshers' Week.
I have been helping out various people with projects this week. I was assistant returning officer for the election though this didn't amount to much more than a few phone calls this year. Huge congratulations to all the members elected in the elections this year, I can't wait to work with you all.
Finally, I got the chance to flex my graphic design muscles and make the graphics and events for our BHM content. The team have pulled together a class act and I recommend you all check out the events this month.
That's all from me,
Have a good weekend!
