The Queen Margaret Union is entering a period of significant change and we want you to be a part of it.
Over the Summer of 2018 an external review was carried out on a number of our key services. The results of this review identified certain challenges in our current operations that if not properly addressed may be potentially damaging to the QMU and her members. Whilst the review did highlight risks, there were also a number of great opportunities noted: particularly arising from the increased number of external gigs we're hosting this year - and the much needed boost of revenue this will bring - as well as the imminent completion of the Learning & Teaching Hub in 2019 which will place us adjacent to the new centre of life on campus.
In order to manage both the risks and the opportunities facing the Union, we have recently reached out to the University and asked that we be given some assistance in making the changes necessary to ensure our continual development and future place on campus. Through close consultation with our Board of Management the University has contracted Atkinson HR Consultancy: a well-respected and experienced HR team who over the remainder of this academic year will be working within the Union to help us produce a lasting Development Plan. Already a group known as the 'Steering Group' consisting of senior Board Members, QMU Staff, and University representatives has been formed and given the responsibility of overseeing the production and implementation of this plan. It is set to be completed by May 2019.
Throughout this exciting process of change and development we want everyone, both staff and students, to be able to have their say in shaping the future of the QMU. If you want to stay up to date on the progress of the QMU Development Plan, or wish to find out more about what it entails, then we'll be posting regular updates via the this blog and we'll also post over social media using #QMUDevPlan.
